The Turn-O-Graph is a distinctive variation of the iconic Rolex Datejust. The rotating timing bezel, here in yellow gold, sets it apart from standard Datejusts. The Turn-O-Graph has a long history; launched as it was in 1953, alongside the first Submariners.
The Turn-O-Graph acquired the 'Thunderbird' nickname after its use by the US Air Force's Thunderbird display squadron, the Red Arrows' American counterparts. It remains the choice of Rolex enthusiasts who want a vintage Rolex that costs a fraction of its stablemates such as the Daytona or GMT-Master - but which nonetheless has a place in the long history of Rolex sports watches.
This 1979 Rolex Datejust Turn-O-Graph, reference 16263, features a 36mm stainless steel and case with yellow gold crown and bezel. The plexiglass crystal gives a warm, vintage feel to the watch - and is in very good condition. This watch has a champagne dial with gold baton hour markers, and comes on a steel and gold Jubilee bracelet.
This watch has just undergone a full service including a bracelet rebuild and a full polish. It also has a full set of box and papers, uncommon for a watch many decades old.
The item is pre-loved so may show signs of wear. All items undergo quality checks.
