As an integral part of all six moon landings in history, the renowned OMEGA Speedmaster serves as a symbol of space exploration and OMEGA's innovative legacy.
This 44.25 mm chronograph highlights the Speedmaster's role in the Apollo 8 mission, with a darkened movement that is laser-ablated to resemble the moon's surface on the main plate and bridges. The skeletonized black anodized aluminium dial reveals the near side, while the far side is visible through the caseback.
Featuring a black ceramic construction and a varnished yellow chronograph seconds hand, this watch is completed by a perforated black rubber strap with a yellow rubber interior. The tachymeter scale on the bezel is laser-engraved and filled with white enamel, while the small-seconds subdial (patent pending) showcases a grade 5 titanium hand shaped to resemble the Saturn V rocket. This unique 3D shape is achieved through laser turning, with the colours achieved by white varnish, ablation, and laser blackening techniques.
The OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3869 powers the movement, adorned with unique decorations. The back of the case features engravings including "APOLLO 8, DEC 1968", "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON", "WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE", and "CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER".
