Vintage British Military RAF Omega Manual Wound with Engravings 6B/159 circa 1943

This Omega 6B/159 men’s wristwatch model reference 2292 is a beautiful example of a hard-to-find, military-issued World War II timepiece.

Provided for RAF Fighter Pilots and Navigators, this rugged yet elegant watch contains one of the best manual winding chronometer accurate movements that Omega ever produced (an accurate timepiece being essential to calculate the position of the aircraft.)

What's on Offer

As you can see from the photos, this once issued to the RAF Omega has some excellent character. Once flat white, the dial has weathered beautifully over this long period presenting itself in a unique stained condition. The dial also features blue steel hands and faded numerals.

Encasing all of this is a material called ‘Duralumin’ - an alloy consisting of aluminium, copper, magnesium and manganese. This material has a matte, silvery white appearance and is much less reflective than steel, helping to prevent dangerous and distracting glare while the watch is in use. Overall in good condition for its age but there is slight wear in various places.

Caseback engravings read A.M 6B/159 6228/43, these refer to the Air Ministry and military issue numbers dating to 1943. This watch also features the very well-known Omega calibre 30T2 movement,  one of the best manual winding chronometer accurate movements that Omega ever produced.
