Smiths Group has its origins in a jewellery shop, S Smith & Sons, which was founded by the watchmaker and businessman Samuel SmithSupplying its precision watches to various clients, including the Admiralty, the business quickly grew and expanded into a major provider of timepieces and automotive instrumentation.

Smiths later produced instruments for the expanding aviation industry supplying gauges and instruments for cockpits. Smiths was probably best known at the onset of the second world war as a clockmaker - accounting for 50% of the UK clock market!

What’s On Offer 

In splendid condition, this military-style car clock has all the hallmarks of MoD-issued equipment with its rich black dial, minute chapter ring and bold Arabic numerals. The dial is blemish-free and the leaf hands looks well, they have aged to a beautiful light pumpkin colour. The time is changed by pulling and twisting the pin at 6 o'clock, simply twist without pulling the pin to wind the watch. The case is chrome topped, and is engraved with 31366. Running well and keeping good time, this clock has recently been serviced by our master watchmaker and comes to you in superb condition.
