Not a part of a watch, or a component, or an improvement. A completely unique, brand new type of watch designed from scratch as a hybrid mission timer/GMT watch.
We don’t know the last time a watch with brand new functionality was patented, but we think it’s 68 years – when Rolex invented the original GMT Master I.
After four years in development, innumerable revisions, and several false starts when the dual-bezel case proved incredibly difficult to machine, we couldn’t be prouder of the end result – the Beachmaster.
The black dial, black bezel and brushed steel case combination of the A01, is fast becoming our signature look. It's possibly the best looking watch we have ever put our names to and so easy to wear on our bracelet or equally at home on our textured rubber strap and deployant butterfly buckle.
Capable of being as simple or as complex as the wearer’s requirements demand day to day, as a GMT watch it displays local time in hours, minutes, and seconds as well a second time zone in 24hr format.
However, combining the GMT movement with two independently adjustable rotating bezels with different scales means that it can also be used as a count-down/count-up timer:
• Reading the minutes hand in conjunction with the scale on the rotating outer bezel shows the number of minutes until an event-start up to 60 minutes away.
• Reading the GMT hand in conjunction with the rotating inner bezel displays either the number of hours until event-start (‘H-hour’), and/or the time since event start.
As its name suggests, the Beachmaster was originally designed in response to a Royal Marine’s request for a military mission timer, so the caseback design is a nod to the original design brief and features the octagonal ‘spatial placement symbol’ from the NATO APP-6(C) Joint Military Symbology manual, and the NATO symbol denoting an amphibious assault.
As with all our watches, we designed the Beachmaster to the highest spec; a unique luminised matt black ceramic bezel, specified a domed anti reflective sapphire glass, a solid brass internal bezel with ceramic locking ball bearings, a Sellita SW330-2 automatic movement, X1 C3 Superluminova, bespoke hobnailed crowns, and a beautifully machined case with polished shoulders and undercuts and finished it with our trademark screw in strap bars.
